Harvey Medical Consulting has extensive expertise in offering innovative, high quality human factors services to the medical industry globally. The Cambridge office opened in 2012 and the Utrecht office opened in 2019.

With a dedicated team of researchers and support staff we provide flexible, cost-effective and creative human factors projects on time and within budget. All projects are carried out to conform to the highest industry standards and guidance.

We can provide a complete project management service from in-house recruitment to final report with one project manager overseeing every aspect of your study. THE TEAM

 

Louisa Harvey

Louisa founded Harvey Medical Consulting in 2012. She has worked in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry for over 15 years. She is passionate about usability of medical devices, and regularly presents at international conference. She founded the Medical Human Factors Network in 2018, which aims to raise the bar of human factors work in the UK. Louisa has an MSc in Industrial Pharmaceutical Science. 

 

Louisa is a highly experienced moderator and facilitates on average 600 interviews a year. She has worked on many different products from autoinjectors through to large surgical systems.

 

Sheldon Pijpers

Sheldon is the Usability Director based in Utrecht. He is a very experienced and skilled medical device human factors consultant. Sheldon is bi-lingual and as such can moderate in English or Dutch.

 

Sheldon graduated with a Masters Degree in Human Centred Multimedia from the University of Amsterdam. After graduating he went onto work for UL in Utrecht, and later contracted for Philips. He has been working for Harvey Medical since early 2019.

Alper Hulusi

Associate Director

Alper has 25 years’ experience as a qualitative researcher. Following his Masters degree in Sociology of Education, his career began as a Social Policy Researcher working at the National Centre for Social Research, TNS-BMRB, then as a freelance specialist qualitative researcher, and then as Research Director at Creative Medical Research. 

 

Alper’s experience and expertise span many diverse areas, having specialised in medical devices research for almost a decade.  Alper’s skilful moderation, project design and insights have facilitated some of the top medical device manufacturers to better understand how to design, develop and market their devices.  This expertise span across the whole product development lifecycle, form early stage ideation through to post-market insight, working in partnership with clients to ensure their business objectives are always met.  

Julie Williams

Julie has worked with Harvey Medical since 2014 and is a very experienced member of the team, having been involved in most Harvey Medical projects. She is a fantastic moderator and observer and enjoys every aspect of human factors.

 

Julie graduated from the University of York with a BA in English and as such is an excellent report writer. Julie is particularly passionate about managing studies which involve vulnerable participants.a

Kully O'Keeffe

Kully keeps all aspects of Harvey Medical running smoothly, and acts as the first of point of contact for all queries.  She manages all the resourcing and logistics for studies, as well as the bookings and management of The Hubble. 

 

Kully controls the budgets, accounts and all project administration.  She also plans and manages conferences and events, and is responsible for facilities management.  She also manages Louisa’s diary, organises meetings, appointments and arranges travel and accommodation.  

Chris Rushforth

Human Factors Specialist

Chris has been working within the medical device usability testing and quality management field for the past six years. Chris oversees all patients and Healthcare Professional recruitment here, to ensure that patients who take part in our studies all match the screening criteria and are well-informed before taking part.

 

Chris’s passion lies in ensuring that the right patients and healthcare professionals are at the heart of the medical device design process.
